ALFA LAVAL

You are here

Alfa Laval is a manufacturer of equipment that makes production processes more efficient.

All the products developed by the company are based on the three key technologies that have been improved and revamped for already a century and a half, but remained the same in essence. They are:

• Heat exchange

• Separation

• Flow control

It is all about controlling state of various (gas, liquid) media, which is essential for many industrial processes.

HISTORY

AB Separator company was founded in 1883 and later gave rise to Alfa Laval Group. The first developments were engineering solutions in the food industry. For example, in 1883 a milk separator was installed on a dairy plant. Another innovation by Alfa Laval was installation of the first continuous centrifuge on a plant producing bakery yeast (1890).

Today, Alfa Laval equipment is successfully applied in various industries, such as food, chemical, pharmaceutical industry, mechanical engineering, iron and steel works, biofuel production, power engineering, wood processing and petroleum industry.

Moreover, Alfa Laval is a recognized leader in the heat exchanger market. The company's equipment provides temperature control for both human comfort (air conditioning and ventilation in offices, commercial facilities, production shops) and conditioning of various production processes, from metals melting to wine production.

THE COMPANY’S FOUNDERS

The company was founded by Gustav de Laval and Oscar Lamm, Jr. Gustav de Laval was a gifted engineer who made many useful inventions, such as a centrifugal separator and a steam turbine. This ingenious inventor not only obtained 92 patents, but also established 32 companies. These included a company called Separator, which later transformed into Alfa Laval.

GEOGRAPHY

Alfa Laval products are present in 100 countries around the world, 50 of which hosting direct sales offices with service centers.
